Well slap my ass and call me Stylish!

Stylish Blogger Award

Look what I’ve got!

Wait.

Does my post title cancel that out?

Too late, it’s mine now.

I Am Stylish. Mwahahaa!

Oh and… RAAAWR!

(Note to self: A synonym of stylish is classy. Another is elegant. You have just demonstrated you totally lack these attributes. Way to go.)

Marguerite over at Canoe Corner (currently under A LOT of snow) has very kindly presented me with the Stylish Blogger Award, for which I thank her very much. Although I fall into the category of lazy and worm phobic armchair gardener, her series of posts entitled Gardens I Have Loved Before are fascinating to read as she tells the story of how she got into gardening and how she is evolving as a gardener. Go read!

So. The Stylish Blogger Award. The rules for accepting this are that I have to thank and link back to the award giver (done; I may not be classy but I do have manners), reveal seven facts about myself and then pass the award along. Hmm, let’s see…

1. I cannot stand the sight or sound of someone brushing their teeth. Weird, but true. I hasten to add that I don’t have rotten stumps for teeth - I do clean mine, it just turns my stomach watching/hearing anyone else doing it.

2. I have a tattoo. I had it done a few weeks after Significant Other died and it’s a Celtic symbol that means ‘Life After Death’. I do not plan on ever getting any more done – it bloody hurt.

3. I am highly allergic to horses. Unfortunately I didn’t know this fact until I was in a situation that I couldn’t get out of – an outdoor education week with a group of 10 and 11 year olds. Because I was chaperoning ten of them, I couldn’t remove myself and so spent the morning sneezing and wheezing.

The afternoon wasn’t so bad, as we were all outside, however disaster struck in the minibus on the way back to our accommodation. Unthinking, I rubbed one of my eyes, which then proceeded to feel like I’d got a ton of grit in it and puffed up like you wouldn’t believe. The kids were duly sympathetic – “WOAH MISS! LOOK AT YOUR EYE!!” At dinner that evening, I then had the rest of the group (another thirty kids) coming over to marvel at it and wanting to know who’d punched me.

4. Hearing Simon & Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water gives me goosebumps, in a good way, every single time.

5. Hearing Alicia Keys singing Empire State of Mind also gives me goosebumps, but most definitely not in a good way. Listening to her yowling ‘Noooooo Yooorrrrk’ is akin to hearing fingernails being drawn down a blackboard and makes me want to rip my ears off. I’ve been known to jump over the sofa to get to the radio and my finger jabs the off button so fast when the opening bars are played, it’s a blur.

If anyone wants to torture me to make me tell them all I know, they’d just need to play that, ensure I’ve got no way of turning it off and I’d spill all the info they want faster than a glass of wine gets spilt down my throat.

6. I have a thing for Cary Grant. I love watching Cary Grant films.

7. Speaking of ‘things’ I have a thing about men wearing dinner jacket and black tie. They generally look so perv-worthy good and make me think of James Bond.

(Sean Connery and Daniel Craig mainly. I used to include Pierce Brosnan, until I heard him singing in the film Mamma Mia – his worthiness went way down after that.

Way, way down.

Off the list down.

I now don’t care how good you look in a DJ, Mr Brosnan, you’re an absolutely shite singer and if ever I think of you, and believe me these days I don’t, the image I get in my head is of you ‘singing’. MEH!

You shouldn’t have done it, Pierce.

My illusions?

Shattered.

All over the place.)

I live in hope that one day I’ll open my front door to find ’James Bond’ (or George Clooney) standing on my doorstep…

I can dream

…Or Hugh Jackman…

…Or Patrick Dempsey…

Ahem. ‘Scuse me a moment while I drag myself back from my lustful thoughts daydream.

And now it’s time to pass this award on. I went back to have a look at how many people I’m supposed to pass this on to, but it doesn’t specify, so for the time being I’m passing it on to two ladies:

Liz at Gwirrel’s Garden

I really enjoy perusing through her blog as she takes some absolutely stunning photos. If you read her blogger profile, you’ll see one of her interests is wildlife. I suspect I may fall into that category.

Crazy Garden Lady down on Crazy Farm

She teaches me things in an amusing way. For example, I learnt a while back what a yabby is and that I don’t remind her of one – at least, not a dead one.

Why not pay them a visit.

Meanwhile, I’m off to try and acquire some style.

It might take a while.

  3. Congrats on the award. If Mr. Clooney ever makes it to your door, which I'm sure he will, what with you being the Stylish Award recipient and all, ask him to send Mr. Jackman my way if you can, would you? I might have to fight my daughter for him, but she's tiny and I'm pretty sure I can take her.

  4. Hi Bub,

I share your pain re: horses; well I don't know if I'm allergic to horses but I am certainly allergic to many small furries so I can imagine horses are no different. My worst is Rabbits, within a few minutes of being near them I can barely breathe because my throat swells, nose runs and I sneeze constantly. Not nice at all.

I think any man in a good fitting suit is hawt, it's always a dissapointment when someone's bought a general suit from Marks and Sparks that just doesn't fit properly.
Fitted suits all the way, droooooool

  5. Congratulations! You had to know that leopard print would pay off one day.

  6. Melissa: You're welcome! Glad I gave you the titters. I think. ;)

Marguerite: I know. I get totally lost in his films, whether it's a comedy or not.

Nari: Thank you :) When I went to Australia last year, Eldest Daughter and I did a coast walk. She told me Mr Jackman has been known to frequent two of the four beaches included in our walk. Oh boy did I pay close attention to who was on those two beaches that day!! Unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found. Hmph.

Liz: My brother is also allergic to all sorts of animals, but not rabbits strangely enough.

    Fitted suits = phwoar!

YG: Thank you very much! :D

Liz: I was just taking a mouthful of coffee when I read your comment, laughed, then had to wipe my keyboard dry!

  7. Thank you! And congratulations :)

I've long had a crush on Gene Kelly. He's gorgeous and he can dance.....and I think he's been known to wear a dinner jacket....whilst dancing....and looking gorgeous. Sigh.

Right, I'm off to watch 'Singing In The Rain'

  8. Oooooh, thanks much for the links to the garden blogs! It's still too darn cold here to garden. Hurry up Spring, hurry up!

  9. CGL: Thank you and you're welcome!

Singing In The Rain is another one of those films that I just don't get tired of, but I can't watch that famous scene anymore without it being replaced in my head by Morecambe & Wise's version!

OMS: You're welcome! It was starting to warm up a bit here, but temperatures have taken a dip again. But Spring will be springing - there are signs!

  10. Congrats on the award!! :D :D
And I'm so totally in love with Hugh Jackman, AND George Clooney, AND Patrick Dempsey. So we have that in common. :D
I still like Pierce Brosnan though.. His hotness in a suit more than makes up for his singing, according to me.. :\

  11. Ooh, you have a thing for Cary Grant too! Something we have in common :D I love watching his movies. I loved that he was so good looking and debonair, but didn't mind looking silly in a comedy if he needed to :)

  12. PG: Thank you! Seeing as I've already claimed George Clooney and Nari has claimed Hugh Jackman, that leaves you with Patrick Dempsey AND Pierce Brosnan!

Kyna: I think his ability to make a fool of himself in films makes Cary Grant even more endearing - one of my favourites is Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House.
